Weekend for Engaged Couples
Weekend for Engaged Couples
The weekend for engaged couples aims to help the couple to live responsibly and lovingly both in the relationship they are living at present and in their relationship as a married couple.
The weekend also aims to help them to clarify the type of relationship they are building and, should they discover they are not suited, to give them a clear understanding of the reasons why.
The weekend covers the following themes:
- self-knowledge (if you do not know each other, you are not able to make yourself known)
- open communication (essential to be able to communicate in depth)
- a love that is life-giving (love does not depend on feelings, but on the decisions we make to love the other person)
- deciding together (the couple’s relationship is important for others and God’s plan)
- sexual relationship (how to build a good, rich and open sexual relationship in marriage…)
- forgiveness (a tool for building couple unity).
- the couple is a sign of God’s love (marriage is a calling, whereby couples become a sign of God’s love)
- the two of us, forever (the value and meaning of “yes, forever”)
- building unity (how and on what basis should we build our unity!)
- the couple is a sign of love for the world (in order to grow, the couple must be open towards others…)
In this experience, young people discover the true dimension of faithful love freely offered; they discover a new and different vision of the Church community, of the Sacrament they are going to receive, of the mission and vocation of Christian couples.
This weekend is proposed to all engaged couples who are willing to question themselves about their lives as they set out on their life’s journey together.
